Fishing Location

Tasmanian Fly Fishing

A private trout fishery in the picture-perfect Huon Valley on the edge of the Southwest Conservation area. The fishery, a one-hour drive from Hobart, and offers prime Tasmanian trout fishing for both beginners and those with experience.

Plump Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout and brown trout inhabit a series of ponds – from small to over two hectares. The fish vary in size from 300 gm to over 6 kg and all ponds are fed from the pristine waters of the Little Denison River.

The fishery is an ideal setting to test newly learnt skills and casting techniques, so that when you are challenged by a slurping brown trout in the wild, you will have the confidence to make that perfect cast.

What People Say

"As a complete novice at fly fishing, I was unsure how much I could get out of just one lesson, but by mid-morning, the day was already exciting and really fun. I found it so easy to learn from Mike's careful instructions and observations and by the end of the day I had caught a handful of fish! Mike oozes with experience but he was always able to keep the lessons down to the level that I needed. I thoroughly recommend him, not just for the lessons he gives, but for the whole experience you have with him throughout the day. I only wish I had more time in Tasmania to spend with him." - Phil B
